"The ‘YY Flower Tenet’ is the first product of the collaboration between Yamamoto and adidas. It all started when Yamamoto called adidas because he wanted to borrow some three stripes sneakers from adidas for his Autumn/Winter 2000-01 show. When Yamamoto’s team first visited the German sportswear company headquarter, their team had already prepared basic samples and sketches, and proposed putting a floral print on the sneaker, similar to the prints that Chikami Hayashi (under the pen name Taishi Hayashi) had been designing for Yohji Yamamoto for nearly two decades. A simple request turned into one of the most important and iconic collaborations in the world of fashion."
